The volcano located on Mount Sinabung in Indonesia erupted twice,
on Monday August 10 and on Saturday August 8/2020
leaving a plume of ash rising several miles into the sky and affecting the health to nearby citizens,
according to Indonesian authorities.
The reporters reported that:” It produced a loud thunder noise and turned the sky black”.
An official on the island told The Associated Press that ash and grit had piled up 2 inches thick in some abandoned villages close to the volcano.
Mount Sinabung was inactive for 400 years before reawakening a decade ago.
Since then there were multiple eruptions and some villagers where permanently displaced.
“In the latest eruption there was no casualties” reported the AP writes.
Local observatories have warned that the ash plume could disrupt aviation in the immediate area of the volcano.
