On an opening night where the conditions were deemed absolutely perfect, in front of a fully packed house thirstily listening in awe, what appeared to be a small orchestra hitting the stage of the Byblos International Festival delivered an extraordinary performance leaving a magical spell that will most certainly linger on for hours and even days ahead around the citadel of Jbeil.
What could have Lebanon wished for more than having the legendary multi-talented Greek artist Yanni igniting one of its most beautiful cities with his bewitching tunes?
That was hard to believe in many ways even for the musician himself.
"We've made it! Finally made it in Lebanon!"
Yes Yanni, and you have made the wait worth it in every single way.
With your characteristic body power and genuine smile, the 2 hours 12 minutes concert could have never been boring, since the touch added to the very special Middle Eastern setlist had a particular impact on the fans out there, who kept craving for more of this heavenly-derived music.
Nobody, just nobody could have imagined the amount of expertise that can emanate from the 13-member orchestra accompanying the maestro.
2 celloists, 3 violinists, 1 bassist, 1 trombone, 1 French horn, 1 keyboard player, a harpist, a percussionist, a trumpet player and a drummer worked together like a charm, collaborating on every track to produce some sensational feelings that cannot but reach your soul and shake it to the core.
Beside the all-time classics such as "Santorini", "Nostalgia" and "One Man's Dream", the solo pieces were just mind-blowing with some of the members coming up with ridiculous actions while playing them.
