Kan Ya Ma Kan , the latest theatrical creation by the Caracalla Dance Theatre is a musical and balletic trilogy with the first act performed to the acclaimed music of Scheherazade by Rimsky Korsakov - The second act at the bazar of extraordinary tales from the sands of time of a Thousand and One Nights to the timeless composition of Ravel’s Bolero – and the final part of the performance a return to Folklore and our traditional roots, with the participation of the most famous star cast of great voices and actors from Lebanon. After its world tour to the Palais des Congres of Paris, the Shanghai Cultural Palace, The London Coliseum, The Kennedy Center in Washington DC and Royce Hall in Los Angeles, the Caracalla Dance Theatre is proud to announce its latest theatrical creation Kan Ya Ma Kan .
Kan Ya Ma Kan opened at the prestigious Beiteddine International Festival in 2012 with the live orchestra of the Lebanese Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Harout Fazlian. For the winter season of 2103/2014, it will be presented at Theatre Caracalla, Ivoire Centre Horsh Tabet.
Kan Ya Ma Kan is a musical and balletic trilogy with the first act performed to the acclaimed music of Shehrazade by Rimsky Korsakov, as we lift the veil on the mysterious East and the majestic yet dramatic court of Shahrayar, where passion, love and revenge illuminate the nights of his palace.
The second act opens at the bazar of extraordinary tales from the sands of time of a Thousand and One Nights where enchanting odalisques parade to the timeless composition of Ravel’s Bolero.
The final part of the performance is a return to Folklore and our traditional roots, involving a star cast of singers and actors of Lebanon including the voice of Hadi Khalil and the guest participation of Hoda Haddad, Joseph Azar, Rifaat Torbey, and the famed actor Berge Fazlian.
What further highlights this theatrical creation is the is the unique oriental orchestration of Korsakov’s Sheherazade and Ravel’s Bolero
Kan Ya Ma Kan features an internationally renowned creative team in the fields of lighting, scenography and visual arts led under the direction of Ivan Caracalla and starring the dancers of Caracalla Company embracing body and spirit to the exceptional choreography of Alissar Caracalla blending the disciplines of dance with the exotic orient.
The magic of the Orient coupled with Caracalla’s sumptuous costumes, creative vision and unique dance style, together blended with the harmonious and bizarre melodies of oriental instruments make Kan Ya Ma Kan an encounter burst with visual impact and promising to be a most memorable spectacle where past, present and future merge in a powerful theatrical celebration of life.
