Raffi Mandalian will be performing his Jazz Fusion compositions and his modern arrangements of Armenian Folk Melodies.
Born in Beirut, Raffi Mandalian began his training in classical guitar when he was sixteen, at the Lebanese National Conservatory. Upon completing his musical studies there, he went on to do his Masters in Musicology from L'Université Saint-Esprit de Kaslik.
Meanwhile, Raffi’s passion for Jazz and Latin Music was growing and he studied under renowned jazz pianist Arthur Satyan. He quickly established himself as a rising talent in the Beirut jazz scene, thanks to his talent, creativity and interpretive performances.
Raffi has been performing and recording since the age of twenty five with some of the most venerable names in the Lebanese music industry, as well as internationally-acclaimed jazz performers. These include Arthur Satyan, Ziad Rahbani, Walid Tawil, Fayrouz, Abboud Saade, Victor Bailey, Hiba Tawaji, Anthony Wonsey, Oussama Rahbani, Anthony Touma, Khaled el Habr, Tania Saleh, Fouad Afra, Thomas Hornig and others.
He has also taken part in many international festivals including Byblos International Festival, Batroun International Festival, Yerevan Jazz Festival, Beirut Jazz Festival, and the Jounieh International Festival.
In 2013, he formed his own jazz quartet, RMJQ, to showcase new compositions and arrangements. He has also been creating modern arrangements of folkloric melodies from Armenia, which has been a constant and natural inspiration in his work. In parallel, he has been giving courses in classical and jazz guitar at the Faculty of Music in L'Université Saint-Esprit de Kaslik since 2012.
He is currently in the process of releasing his debut album scheduled to be out in 2017.
