Abeer Nehme is a Lebanese renowned International Crossover singer, composer and musicologist. She is renowned for her exquisite and unique talents in performing different music styles with great ease and professionalism. She performs Arabic Traditional Tarab, traditional Middle Eastern folks, Arabo Andalusian songs, Ancient Syriac, Aramaic, Byzantine and Maronite chants, Opera, and Western Music. Abeer is considered to be the first Arabic singer and one of the few worldwide to perform in more than twenty-five languages which make her the emissary of cultural and musical dialogue in the region.
Abeer obtained her Diploma in Oriental Singing (with high distinction) from the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik, Lebanon as well as her Bachelor’s degree in Musicology from the same university. She is in the process of finishing her Master’s degree. Abeer currently masters to art of playing the Qanun.
Over the past few years, Abeer Nehme has had many appearances all over the world.
Abeer has released many albums and productions, among which, Abeer Salati [Aroma of my Prayers], depicting major sacred music styles with her exquisite knowledge and voice creating by that one of the fewest most diversified sacral musical works. She has composed and sung a musical creation and production by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority “Al Mutanabbi, Mousafiran Abadan...” celebrating the poems of one of the greatest Arab poets, Abu at-Tayyib al-Mutanabbi.
Abeer Nehme is currently preparing a new double-album composed by Marcel Khalife, written by the most important poets in the region and played by the Philharmonic Orchestra of Paris, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Prague, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Qatar and others.
Abeer has been recently chosen by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority and the Sheikh Zayed Book Award Committee to compose the music for the prestigious Sheikh Zayed Book Award.
Abeer Nehme has received many awards, among which the Lebanese Diva Wadih El Safi Academic Award and the Murex D’Or for the best voice in the Arab World.
Abeer Nehme performed in many prestigious and international events around the globe, from the African continent to the American continent where she staged at Harvard University in Boston.
Abeer has also visited the Asian continent, performing at Jodhpur and Nagaur in India as part of the International World Sufi Spirit Festival.
In Europe, Abeer toured from the municipal palace in Paris, Hotel de Ville, to Les Orientales Festival, France, to Evora Festival in Portugal; with the KSO Philharmonic Orchestra in Norway, to Saint Stephen Basilica in Hungary. Abeer staged as well at the Leyla Gencer Opera House in Istanbul as well as Saint Joseph Basilica in Romania where she had been invited by the Lebanese Embassy in Bucharest accompanied by musicians from India, Iran, France and Romania.
Abeer’s tour to the Arab world was vast, she performed in Tunis, staging at Carthage, El Jem and Bizerte; at the prestigious Fes Festival in Morocco, where she has been a recurrent guest, performing lately at Bab Al Makina the opening of this festival where she was the leading actress, singer and composer in “La Conference des Oiseaux”, a production portraying the poet Al Hallage under the patronage and presence of His Majesty Kind Mohammad the Sixth.
Abeer also toured in Qatar, singing at the Katara Theater accompanied by the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra; in Lebanon through the opening of the Beiteddine International Festival and through the Cedars International Festival.
Abeer Nehme has been a constant guest at the United Arab Emirates where she was invited by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority inaugurating the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, singing and composing Al Mutanabbi’s poems.
Abeer Nehme has had many national and regional theatrical appearances as the main leading female actress with Elias Al Rahbani, Antoine Jebara and Ivan Caracalla.
Abeer Nehme was hosted weekly and for two years on the National Turkish Television (TRT) as a permanent guest and leading performer in one of the most prestigious musical and cultural television programs, One Thousand and One Nights, and was accompanied by the Turkish Orchestra.
Abeer Nehme entered the world of television, leaving her unique mark, creating, setting, presenting herself a forty episode documentary entitled Ethnopholia Musiqa Al Chou’oub [Ethnopholia music of the nations], a first of its kind in the world, in which Abeer starts traveling across the four corners of the globe searching for the roots and origins of cultures, folk and ethnic music and interacting with the original natives to produce and create this outstanding one-of-a-kind documentary.
